BADMINTON TOURNAMENT RULES AS LAID DOWN BY CBSE (BOYS & GIRLS)

1. CBSE Inter School Badminton Tournament will be conducted according to the rules of Badminton Association of India. (BAI) |
| 2. Every school will be eligible to send one team in different age groups (as notified by the CBSE) in the Zonal Championship consisting of maximum four players. |
| 3. All the matches will be played strictly on knock-out basis at Zonal Level. |
| 4. National Championship will be conducted on League cum knock out basis for which all the teams will be divided into different pools. |
| 5. From each Zone first two position winning teams (i.e. winner & runners-up) will qualify to participate in the National Championship. |
| 6. All the participants must carry their valid age proof certificate and school/CBSE Board identity card. |
| 7. Only BAI-approved shuttle-cocks shall be used during the tournaments. |
| 8. All matches will be played on indoor courts with proper lighting arrangements. |
| 9. The matches will be played according to the best of three games. The order of play will be : |
| (a) First singles |
| (b) Second Singles |
| (c) Doubles |
| The result will be decided as soon as any team wins two matches. |
| 10. At the time of tournament the Organising School must possess the official rule book printed/approved by BAI. |
| 11. Participation Certificates will be awarded to all participants. |
| 12. The first three position winners will be awarded Merit Certificates by the CBSE |
| 13. No participation certificate shall be given to a team who do not play after reporting. |
| 14. No change in the composition of team is allowed from Zonal Level to National Level. |
| 15. No change is permitted in any rules and regulations without prior written permission from CBSE. Once the change takes place, it will be the responsibility of the Organizing School to inform all concerned schools/teams/officials within 24 hours. |
| 16. As a policy, it has been decided by the CBSE Board that only the “AS-2 YONEX Feather Shuttle Cocks” will be used in all the CBSE Zone and National BadmintonChampionships. The Organising school would need at least 60 dozens of shuttle Cocks. Each participating teams should pay Rs.1000/- against the cost of the shuttle Cocks. Example, if a school is participating in Boys under 14, 16 and 19 years age Group, the school must remit Rs.3000/- and so on. No matter a team loses in the first round, or plays until finals, the team must remit Rs.1000/- for the shuttle cocks. No amount, partial or full will be refunded. |
INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP (BOYS & GIRLS) ONLY AT NATIONAL LEVEL

1. In addition to the Team Championship, separate individual Championship shall also be played at National level on knock out basis. |
| 2. Each team reaching nationals shall sponsor one player who shall play singles title in each Category separately for boys & girls. |
| 3. The scoring system will be the same as followed for Singles matches. |
