Dear Sir/Madam,

Subject : South Zone Shuttle Badminton Tournament

Thank you very much for your entry for the CBSE Inter School South Zone Shuttle Badminton Tournament which was to be held at our School from 13th to 16th October 2010. As the National Umpires have to be present at the Common Wealth Games in Delhi, we are constrained to change the dates of the tournament as below :

20th October to 23rd October 2010
Teams should arrive by 19th evening. Managers meeting and drawing of fixtures will be at 5.00 p.m. on 19th October 2010 at the school.
Relevant information in connection with the Tournament is given below :

1.LOCATION
Kotagiri is one of the three main hill stations and is located in the Nilgiris at an altitude of 6500’ msl, 72 kms from Coimbatore, 30 kms from Mettupalayam, 30 kms from Ooty and 22 kms from Coonoor. Kotagiri is supposed to enjoy the second best climate in the world! However, the climate is usually chilly in the month of October. Hence the outstation teams are advised to bring warm clothes for their comfort.

2. HOW TO REACH KOTAGIRI
From Chennai Central Station the following trains are available :
Nilgiris Express  -  Chennai  -  Mettupalayam  -  Dep. 9.00 p.m. Arrival 6.00 a.m.
Cheran Express  -  Chennai  -  Coimbatore  -  Dep.10.10 p.m. Arrival 6.00 a.m.
Inter City  -  Chennai  -  Coimbatore  -  Dep. 2.30 p.m. Arrival 9.45 p.m.
Kovai Express  -  Chennai  -  Coimbatore  -  Dep.6.15 a.m. Arrival 2.00 p.m.
West Coast  -  Chennai  -  Via Coimbatore  -  Dep.11.15 a.m. Arrival 7.30 p.m.

In addition there are many long distance trains & buses connecting the major South Indian cities and Coimbatore. From Coimbatore there are direct buses to Kotagiri.
Trains from Bangalore to Coimbatore
Inter City  -  Bangalore  -  Coimbatore  -  Dep. 6.15 a.m. Arrival 12.15 p.m.
Island Express  -  Bangalore  -  Kanyakumari Via Coimbatore  -  Dep. 9.40 p.m. Arrival 5.00 a.m.
Kurla Express  -     -  via Coimbatore  -  Dep.10.00 p.m. Arrival 6.00 a.m.

Train from Hyderabad to Coimbatore
Sabari Express Dep. 12.00 p.m. Arrival 8.00 a.m.

Bus Services (Bus Fare Rs.21/-)
1. Mettupalayam Muncipal Bus Stand  -  to  -  Kotagiri (Bus fare Rs.10.50) Every half an hour from 5.00 a.m. Last bus at 9.00 p.m.
2. Coimbatore Corporation Bus Stand  -  to  -  Sai Baba Colony Bus Stand  - to -  Kotagiri

Timings : A.M. 5.30, 7.45, 10.30, 11.30
  P.M. 1.45, 2.30, 4.15, 5.20 and 6.10
It is easier to board a bus at Coimbatore than at Mettupalayam

Taxis-autos :
From Mettupalayam to Kotagiri approximately Rs.500/- (taxi).
From Kotagiri bus stand to Kotagiri Public School - Rs. 60/- (auto) - Rs.125/- (taxi)
Kotagiri Public School is located 3 kms. from Kotagiri bus stand on the Kotagiri – Ooty Road.

3. FOOD & ACCOMMODATION

(1) AT THE SCHOOL
The School will provide free dormitory type of accommodation in hostels/class rooms. Food will be provided at the cost of Rs.175/- per head per day. Mid morning & evening tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served. Payment should be made for food on arrival. All payments will be collected on a full day basis. Schools who would like to make use of these facilities are requested to inform the organizers on or before 6th October 2010.
Blankets will be available on hire @ Rs.10/- per blanket per day. Please bring the following :
1. Bed sheets - 2
2. A Torch
3. Personal effects
4. Warm clothes
Precaution money of Rs.1,000/- has to be paid on arrival. The same will be refunded after deducting the cost of damages, if any, before the teams leave for their home town. Please look after the school property.
Parents accompanying the participants cannot be accommodated in the school premises.
In addition ACCOMMODATION is also being arranged in town in :

(i) BELMONT - cost for accommodation plus food - Rs.250/- per head per day (special concession for KPS)
(ii) THE FRIARY – Food + accommodation - Rs.300/- per head per day
(iii) DON BOSCO – Food + accommodation - Rs.500/- per head per day
Hotels with boarding & lodging facilities are available at moderate rates in Kotagiri Town. Teams which would like to stay in hotels in Kotagiri Town may book directly. The tariff for them is given below :

4. A CANTEEN will also function for the benefit of the participants at the school premises.

5. TOURNAMENT RULES : Latest rules will be followed. (copy enclosed) A player shall be Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 years of age on 31.12.2009 no matter the competition is being held in the month of January 2010.
1. Under 14 years : Born on or after 01.01.1997
2. Under 16 years : Born on or after 01.01.1995
3. Under 19 years : Born on or after 01.01.1992
6. ENTRY FORM : A copy of the entry form is enclosed. You may take xerox copies if more forms are required. Last date to receive the entry form and other details from the participating schools is Wednesday 6th October 2010 before 5.00 p.m. Late entries will not be entertained.
7. FIXTURES : Will be drawn during the Manager’s meeting.
8. March Past & Inauguration : There will be a March Past and Inauguration Ceremony on 20th October 2010 at 9.30 a.m. All participating schools must report by 8.30 a.m. for March Past rehearsal. Participating teams are required to be in their proper uniforms and bring their school flags.
9. Certificates & Prizes : All participants will get participation certificate and the best three teams will get Merit Certificates issued by CBSE with prizes.
